'This is the fastest we’ve seen case numbers drop': COVID-19 cases plummet in Greater Cincinnati

Omicron-driven cases of the coronavirus are dropping at a rate local health leaders said they have not seen.

“We are continuing to see cases of COVID-19 plummet right now,” Hamilton County Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman said. “This is the fastest we’ve seen case numbers drop at any point in the pandemic.”

Even though the COVID numbers are dropping, they remain high at about 9,500 active COVID cases in Hamilton County.

“We’ve had some very precipitous drops in both cases and hospitalization,” said the Health Collaborative’s Tiffany Mattingly. “We’re very happy. It’s very promising, but at the same time, this is not the time to let our guard down.”
