Kroger's first COVID-19 vaccine giveaway winners selected, putting spotlight on incentives

"As a region, I'd say that overall we're doing pretty well," Dr. Andrew Beck said.

Beck studies COVID-19 case counts closely in his role with Cincinnati Children's Hospital. He knows it seems logical to assume that big prizes are prompting more people to get vaccinated but cautions against making that leap right now.

Beck said understanding the impact incentives are having on the rate of vaccination matters a great deal and is something that will be studied closely for some time. He said it's "incumbent" for the medical community and others to know what works and what doesn't work when it comes to getting people vaccinated, so everyone can be better prepared in the event there's another pandemic.
